Alivia Maric, PhD, RPsych

Alivia (Scalzo) Maric is a Certified EMDR Therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.  She has been the registrar for Vancouver trainings since 2004 and has facilitated EMDR trainings in BC and Yukon.  Alivia began working with trauma survivors in 1982.  She went on to complete her MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at SFU and has been a registered psychologist in private practice since 1992. She has provided consultation to a number of counselling agencies and has taught graduate courses in counselling psychology at Adler University (Vancouver).  Alivia has been endorsed as a board certified expert in traumatic stress by the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

Eve Wilensky, MA, RCC

Eve Belle Wilensky is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant. She holds a master’s degree in drama therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco and is passionate about the use of psychodrama and embodied work for healing. In 2015, she trained in sex therapy via the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). Eve is committed to issues of anti-oppression and social justice and has worked with victims of political and state violence, refugees and asylum seekers, and survivors of large-scale natural and human-made disasters. She is also a member of the Humanitarian Assistance Program’s Trauma Recovery Network of Greater Vancouver and facilitates EMDR protocols for groups experiencing ongoing and prolonged recent traumatic events. Since 2018, she has worked in private practice on the unceded and ancestral homelands of the wməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Jenny Watt, MA, RCC

Jenny is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and a Certified EMDR Therapist who has been in private practice since 2012 in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is the founder of EMDR Therapy Group where she provides consultations to EMDR-trained therapists, supervises Master’s level Practicum Students, and works with clients who desire to heal from painful experiences. Prior to private practice, Jenny worked with marginalized children and their parents in non-profit settings, where she discovered the importance of trauma and resiliency-informed practice and became dedicated to trauma work.

Jenny is excited to join EMDR Training Associates as a Consultation Facilitator and share her passion in supporting therapists to become confident and skilled EMDR Therapists.

Maya Misic, PhD RCC-ACS

Maya is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), an Approved Clinical Supervisor (BCACC), a EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, and Approve Consultant.  She holds a PhD in psychology and is trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Levels 1 to 3 including Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO) couples therapy.  She integrates these approaches along with EMDR to provide comprehensive client-centered care.

Maya has been in private practice since 2008 and has supported individuals affected by trauma for over 2 decades.  She provides therapy for clients experiencing PTSD and complex trauma and consultations for EMDR-trained therapists.  Prior to 2008, she worked in the nonprofit sector supporting women and children who had experienced violence and abuse.  She is the founder of Trauma and Stress Counselling, a group practice that specializes in trauma therapy. 

Maya is excited to join EMDR Training Associates as a facilitator and looks forward to helping therapists gain confidence and expertise in applying EMDR therapy.

Yasaman Madanikia, RCC, MCP:AT

Yasaman is a Certified EMDR Therapist, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and a PsyD Candidate. She is the founder and clinical director of Expressions Counselling, where she leads a large team of counsellors. She provides consultation to EMDR therapists and supervises counsellors and practicum students. She works with clients who are working to overcome their symptoms of PTSD, C-PTSD, and BPD. She is also highly experienced in working with clients who are impacted by workplace injuries of various kinds. Yasaman takes pride in being an Iranian immigrant herself and being able to provide trauma therapy to immigrants and refugees. She offers services in Farsi and English. 

Yasaman is excited to connect further with the EMDR community and future EMDR therapists by being a facilitator at EMDR Training Associates.


Our Founder

Marshall Wilensky, PhD, RPsych

Marshall was trained by EMDR founder Dr. Francine Shapiro in 1993 as the first Canadian EMDR trainer.  He completed the EMDR Institute’s Facilitator Training in 1995 and was an EMDR Institute Facilitator for their trainings from 1996 to 2006.  He also created and taught EMDRIA Approved EMDR trainings in the Western Canadian provinces and Northwestern USA from 1996 until he retired from teaching in 2024.  He taught approximately 110 trainings during which he trained an estimated 2700 EMDR Therapists.  Marshall has more than 20,000 hours of experience with EMDR. 

For many years, Marshall taught counselling psychology and clinical psychology for Simon Fraser University, the British Columbia School of Professional Psychology, and the University of British Columbia.  He has been in private practice since 1980.  His specialty is the treatment of trauma and he was endorsed as a board-certified expert in traumatic stress by the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.

Since the initial creation of his training program in1996, Marshall developed the curriculum as EMDR evolved from a technique to a therapeutic approach.  He mentored Alivia and Eve in their basic trainings through to becoming EMDR Trainers and has supported them in developing the curriculum further.
